Jon L. Hester, Edmond Family Lawyer

Jon L. Hester is an Edmond family lawyer and the head of Hester, Schem, Hester, and Deason. Hester’s practice is limited to Family Law and heavily concentrated in litigation involving business and professional practice valuations and alimony issues. In 1972, he received his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma, followed by being admitted to practice by the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1973. Hester was appointed to the Judiciary in 1976 and held the position of judge of the Family Relationship Division in Oklahoma County District Court. In 1982, after his term on the bench, he went into private practice. He was responsible for conducting the examinations of Mr. Hamm and many of the directors and top executives of Continental Resources for the case of Hamm v. Hamm.

Hester taught various law courses as an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma from 1979 to 1983 and Rose State College from 1978 to 1983. Since 1980, he has been a presenter of continuing legal education programs.

  • Past President of the Oklahoma AAML and was on the AAML National Board of Governors.
  • Member of the Oklahoma County Bar Association and Oklahoma Bar Association
  • On the Oklahoma County Bar Association Board of Directors for three years.
  • Chairman of the Family Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association from 1982 to 1983 and 1986.
